GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING
MANUSCRIPTS
The Rural Educator is a refereed professional
journal written for and by those involved in rural education and
university faculty specializing in the area of rural education and/or
rural development. It is intended to serve as a means of furthering
communications between university faculty and educators in our rural
schools. It is also designed to provide up-to-date information to all
readers in the area of rural education and rural development.
Original manuscripts will be considered for publication from university
faculty, specialists in the field of rural education, as well as teachers
and administrators in rural schools. All manuscripts are submitted to a
blind peer review without reference to name or institution. Authors will
be notified of acceptance or rejection as soon as the review process is
completed. Issues of The Rural Educator are published in the fall, winter,
and spring of each academic year. All manuscripts should be submitted as
an e-mail attachment to:

Manuscript
guidelines
- Submit in MS Word (.doc) or in Rich Text
Format (.rtf)
- Double-spaced
- 12 point font (Times New Roman or Arial
preferred)
- Not to exceed 25
pages (including references)
- Use American Psychological Association
(APA) 5th Edition for style, citation, and reference guidelines
- Tables
and figures should be sent as separate files with indication in manuscript
text as to their approximate insertion point
- Include an abstract, not
to exceed 150 words
- Include a separate sheet with keywords (for use
in searching)
- Attach an identification cover sheet containing
the following information about the author(s): name and official title,
institutional affiliation, address, zip code, telephone, fax, and e-mail
address
- indicate which author is the contact author; if
not otherwise designated the first author will be considered the
contact author
- Do not include the author(s)' name(s) on the manuscript
- The lead or contact author will be notified of
the final decision regarding publication; progress reports during
the review process are not provided.
- The
lead or contact author will be notified of editorial changes made to the manuscript;
however, the Editors reserve the right to make such changes without
author’s approval or notification if time does not permit.
